Rainy Days, Check Ups & Questions

Ive been slacking again but its been so rainy there is really nothing to update. We are pretty much just stuck in the house unless we sneak over to Grma Babes!

Dylan did get some "new" rain boots and rain coat from Tyler along with his next size in clothes. (Thanks Holly!) Dylan had been asking for a few days to take his boots and coat out in the rain and finally I agreed. How many times does a little kid get to go out in the rain and get all muddy??? So here he is, it wasn't raining at the time but as you can tell we did have quite a few puddles!

Anticipation!

He ended up with about 3 inches of water in his boots by the time he was done splashing!

Can you believe that my little baby is 2 months old???? I can't believe it! It makes me sad because he's getting so big. Talking and smiling and cooing. He loves to lay under his play gym with Dylan. He loves standing up on your lap. He's such a strong boy.

Landon had his 2 month well baby check up on Thursday. He now weighs 13lbs 6oz and was 23 3/4 inches long. His doctor was really happy with his weight gain since we were having issues with that early on. He does think that his rash that he's had since he was born is eczema. So we are going to try a new medicine for that and hopefully it helps. We are also changing soaps and laundry detergents AGAIN! My kids and their sensitive skin! HAHA! Landon got 3 shots and an oral vaccine for Rotovirus. He did really well and only cried for just a second and when the nurse distracted him he looked at her and smiled. So his feelings weren't hurt!

Later on the same day he started getting really fussy and just screaming and crying. He's never like this! He's always a really happy baby and rarely cries. And even if he does cry he's a faker because I can pick him up and he immediately quits! He had terrible gas and was squirming and just couldn't get settled down. Finally after crying an hour or so he fell asleep on my chest and then I didn't dare move. I let him lay almost an hour and then decided to be brave and see if I could get him in his bed. I did and he slept for quite a few hours and woke up, ate and went right back to sleep. He was as happy as could be. I'm wondering if it was the Rotovirus vaccine that upset his stomach. So if any of you reading have any experience with this please leave a comment. I don't know much about the vaccine because it wasn't out when Dylan was little and Landon is still supposed to get 2 more doses!

I did also get Dylan in with Landon's doctor for a 3 year check up. He will go the same time Landon goes for his 4 month check up just to make it easier.

I stole this next idea from a few girls on my mommies board. They asked their children the same questions and some of them were so funny. I asked Dylan these this morning and he was so excited to be answering these. Some of the answers were hilarious like "throwing toys at mommy" to the "bologna sandwiches" which we have never EVER had! Anyways all his answers are in bold just like he answered.

I'm going to try and ask him these same questions every once in a while. I think it will be cute to see how the change.

Tonight we are going to help Brendon's parents with their annual Rotary Crab Feed. Brendon loves to help because the reward is bags and bags of crab and shrimp! I'm not a big fan of seafood but I go and help anyways. Ill try and remember to get some pictures because I'm sure Dylan will be a big helper.

Anyways that's all for now. The rain is coming back again tonight and supposed to rain off and on for the next week or so. I guess we need it. I love this rainy cloudy weather, other than the fact that it keeps us inside.

Way Behind

Well arent I way behind in updating this. I swore I would try and keep up and update once a day after the kids were asleep but Ive been so tired lately that I cant stay awake to do it! This could be a long one!

Last Saturday the 7th was free museum day and we decided to take Dylan and Landon to the train museum in Old Sacramento. Dylan had a great time wandering through the trains with Brendon. Landon and I just hung out and he slept most of the time. We also got to bust out our new double stroller which was a life saver! We walked along the river and stopped at Round Table Pizza. We had such a great day but we were definately ready for naps by the time we got home!

The following day was another rainy day so Brendon and Dylan made a fort in our bedroom. They laid in there and watched movies. After they were done Dylan and I decided to make chocolate peanut butter Chex Mix which is the best stuff ever!!!

Last week was just one rainy day after another! We went to Grandma Babes a few times but mostly just stayed in and hid out. Dylans definately ready for the nicer weather so he can go in the backyard and ride his scooter and his bike.

Landon had his appointment with the Pediatric Orthopedic Specialist last Friday the 13th (UGH! I KNOW!). We had to wait quite a bit because of an emergency that they had but Landon slept most of the time. When the Dr. did come in he did another ultrasound checking the positiioning of his hip in the socket. He also just wrenched on his hip for a good 10 mins (My poor baby screamed the whole time) checking to see if it popped out of the socket which it didnt. It does still click though which is a little bit of a concern. So everything seems okay for now. We do have a follow up appointment in 3 weeks to check it again and do a repeat ultrasound as well as an appointment 3 weeks after that to do an X-ray to check again. The dr. said it should be something that he outgrows but they want to just make sure it heals itself. Otherwise he is in a sling thing for his legs for 6 weeks which would not be fun! Ill keep updating on this.

On Saturday we decided to have my Dad's birthday party at our house. I thought it would be a nice break of him always having to cook and clean for his own party. It was sort of a potluck thing so I didnt have to cook everything which turned out really nice. It seemed like everyone had a really good time.

This week has just been more rain, rain, rain. So Dylan and I are always looking for things to do to keep him occupied and not go stir crazy! We started doing Preschool Workbooks which he calls his "homework". He seems to only have about 5 minutes worth of attention span so our time spent on them isnt very long! :)

To keep myself busy lately I have been listing lots of things on Craigslist as well as Ebay. It feels really good to sell things not only for the money but to just get things we wont use out of here! It definately passes the time on the rainy days!

Landon got a new play mat for him to lay on. Obviously he likes it! My happy easy baby HAHA!

I guess thats about everything! We are going to try and go outside in a minute since the sun has come out! We have to get in all the outside time we can because the rain will be back in the next day or so!

Grandma Babe's and lots of smiles!

We go about once or twice a week (sometimes more!) to Grandma Babe's house. Usually its to do laundry (since our washing machine is still broken and we haven't bought one yet) other times its just to get us out of the house.

Usually we are able to play out in the garage or in the front yard but today since it was rainy we had to stay inside which Dylan was just as happy with. He watched TV, did his "Schoolwork", and played football with Grandma.

Dylan and Grandma Babe are like two peas in a pod. They are "Best Buddies" as Dylan says!

Here is a picture of them together on Auntie Kirstin's Birthday.

Landon was really smiley today and I finally got a picture of one. Usually the little stinker quits the second the camera comes out.

I had to throw this one in there. Dylan loves to hold his brother and knows he has to be sitting on the couch to do so. Now that Landon is getting a little more stable Dylan is able to just hold him without anybody really helping. Although he does need a little reminding not to hold on so tight!
Tomorrow here in CA is free museum day. We are hoping to take Dylan to the Train Museum and maybe a few others depending on the weather. So hopefully I have lots of pictures to share tomorrow.

Catching, Smiles and Swings

Last night before bed Brendon and Dylan were playing "catch". Before now it hasn't really been catch since Dylan never caught the ball. After many attempts and the ball bouncing off his head and the wall and falling to the ground, he caught it!!!! He was so proud and so were we.

Showing me he caught it!

Lately Landon has been smiling and cooing and laughing. Of course every time I go to take a picture of it he quits. So for now here is the best we have!

Landon also is really in love with his swing and the animals that are on the mobile above his head. Of course we also have to try and keep Dylan out of it, which isn't always easy!

Proud Big Brother!
Landon doing what he does best in his swing!
Tomorrow we are going to set up Dylan's' "school". He has been desperate to go to school and as of now we can't get him in near us and he has to wait until Fall. So I decided I would set up a school here for him. We bought some things like ABC's, numbers, colors, shapes and other things to hang up on the wall by his table. I also bought him a couple of workbooks for his birthday that we can work on. I'm hoping that doing some of this or setting up a schedule for this will help keep his 'tude in check! Thanks for the idea Jodi! Ill post pictures tomorrow after we get things set up.
I'm hoping that with the weather getting nicer that we can set up our double Sit N Stand stroller and start walking. I could use the exercise and I know the boys could use the outside time!
A little update on Landon's hip. He had an ultrasound last Friday to check for hip dysplasia (they heard some popping and cracking noises when they were checking his hips when he was born along with his appointments his had so far). I was a little upset that we had someone who was training doing the ultrasound on his "bad" hip. I understand people need the practice to learn but I don't understand why she couldn't have done the "good" one. Anyways I got a call from the doctor Monday saying that the ultrasound came back inconclusive and that we would be referred to a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon to have him look over the results and see where we need to go from there. I will keep everyone updated on what happens.

My First Post

Dylan and "Baby Landon"

Well here goes nothing! I'm hoping to keep up with this but with Dylan just turning 3 and Landon a little over a month old, I have my hands full!

Dylan turned 3 on the 29th and we had his birthday party yesterday. He was such a good boy the whole day and was very excited for everyone to be here!

Sitting with Daddy while everyone sings Happy Birthday

Passed out after a long day!
He has been asking to go to "school" lately and we are trying to get him in somewhere even if its only 2 or 3 days a week. He needs the interaction and is very excited to learn. I picked up a couple of workbooks and I am going to start letting him do "schoolwork" at home.
Landon is a little over 5 weeks old now. He is such a good and mellow baby. He rarely cries and if he does its because he's hungry. He was having some issues gaining weight about 2 weeks ago and now that he is taking some formula our little itty bitty baby has turned into a chunk! At one of our weight check appointments after we started formula he gained 1.5lbs within just a couple of days. Needless to say his weight is not a concern!
He loves his big brother! He loves to stare at Dylan and they like to lay under the baby gym together. Dylan is very good with him and is finally realizing that he needs to be careful and gentle with his baby brother. I can only imagine how much fun they will have together when Landon gets more stable!
Tonight we had dinner with my parents. I guess you could have called it a Superbowl party although I don't really think anyone was interested in the game, only the commercials and the food! Dylan waited all day for his cousin Tyler to get back from his Dad's and once he did all hell broke lose and they played like maniacs until they were both dripping sweat. Dylan the other night when Dad, Mom and Tyler stopped by to pick up Auntie Kirstin kept telling Tyler that he was his "bestest" friend ever! They play really well together and always have a good time and wear each other out.
Anyways I guess that's it for tonight! I'm hoping to post once a day but we'll see how that goes!
